On the 20th of October 1920, Avianca (then still called “Scadta”) had their first inland flight over Colombia. It was a water aircraft flown by Helmuth von Krohn and flew with his floating aircraft over the Magdalena River.

Avianca is the biggest Colombian Airline and the 2nd biggest airline of South America. They are one of the oldest Airlines in the world and they are part of Star Alliance. Avianca was founded on the 5th, December 1919 and its current CEO is Anko Van der Werff.

At the moment Avianca and its daughter airline, SAM, have around 219 flights leaving their hub, Bogota, every day to 18 destinations in Colombia and 19 destinations outside of Colombia. But before Covid when they still had regular flights they had 62 total destinations.
